Billy Hart – Oshumare

Questo disco è di difficile reperibilità perchè ho il dubbio che non sia stato ristampato, ma dopo tante ricerche sono riuscito ad averlo. E’ un disco particolare, quasi jazz ma passa alla fusion in certi momenti, sicuramente la lunga ricerca è stata premiata soprattutto per il brano Chance.

sandovalQuesto album è stato pubblicato nel 1992 sotto l’etichetta GRP ed è il suo diciasettesimo CD, ed è un omaggio a Clifford Brown morto prematuramente in un incidente di auto.
Questo album ha preso 2 nomination nel 1992 per il Grammy Awards ed è stato incluso da Leonard Feather come tra i migliori 10 album del 1992.

Jazz from Keystone – Thunder and Rainbows

keystone021Questo CD lo giudico il più bello della mia collezione per quanto riguarda una formazione in trio. Al piano Kenny Kirkland, alla batteria Jeff Tain Watts e al contrabbasso Charles Fambrough.
L’album è stato pubblicato nel 1993 con l’etichetta Sunnyside ed è stato praticamente introvabile, ho dovuto girare parecchio per riuscre a trovare questa copia rimasta dispersa dietro una scaffalatura, incredilbilmente il commesso si è ricordato di me e quando mi ha visto passare per il negozio mi ha raggiunto e mi ha allungato questo facendomi il più bel regalo che si potesse fare. Ascoltandolo ho avuto la conferma che la mia ricerca accanita era servita a qualcosa.
Suonano leggeri, veloci, tutto sembra semplice e facile ma ascoltandolo è di una bellezza unica.
Ora per fortuna questo album è stato ripreso da Jeff  Tain Watts che l’ha ripubblicato a suo nome dandogli il nome Megawatts e cambiando anche la copertina.Quella che vedete qui è l’originale e vi scansiono anche l’inside e il CD.

kenny Kirkland – Kenny Kirkland

kennykirkland Questo è l’unico CD a suo nome che ha fatto, nonostante abbia suonato in centinaia di dischi. E’ stato pubblicato nel 1991 sotto la GRP.  E’ stato poi ripubblicato dalla Verve dopo che la GRP è sparita dalla circolazione cambiando la copertina.

In questo disco si capisce la maturità di questo artista che potrei paragonare a Chick Corea o Herbie Hancock per la capacità di passare da un genere all’altro, di utilizzare il piano con grande maestria per passare senza problemi sui synth.

Personalmente all’interno di questo CD considero Chance uno dei pezzi più belli della mia collezione, un brano tanto intenso quanto melanconico e un’interpretazione magistrale.

Concerto alla Taverna della Musica del 29/10/2008

Questa registrazione sempre in trio è stata molto divertente soprattutto per Bob alla batteria che per me è stato un onore, inoltre Emiliano al contrabbasso. Bella serata e divertente.

Questo è il concerto che ho registrato nel mese di settembre, non è il migliore ma è comunque tra i più belli. Purtroppo quando si è molto ispirati non si registra mai. Concerto in trio con Emiliano al contrabbasso e Luca alla batteria.

Il 9 Luglio siamo andati in trio a suonare ala Taverna della Musica a Salsomaggiore. La formazione era antonio al contrabbasso, Luca alla batteria e io al piano.
E’ stata la mia prima volta in trio e nonostante le paure e’ andata discretamente bene.
